Kusaal and Its speakers: Kusaal is a language spoken by the Kusaas of the Upper East Region of Ghana and the adjoining neighbouring countries of Burkina Faso and Togo. Unlike Ghana and Burkina Faso, with large speaker populations of Kusaal, Togo has a relatively small speaker speaker community of the language in and around Sinkasse. Additionally, Ghana has speakers for both dialects of Kusaal: Toende and Agole, compared to Togo, which has speakers for only the Agole dialect and Burkina Faso which has the speakers only  for the Toende dialect found in about 24 towns and villages including Zoanga, Bieungo and Younga. Whgile Kusaal is the formal name of the language, the speakers refer to themselves as Kusaas (Kusaa for singular). Kudsug refers to the homeland or areas within which Kusaal is spoken in the Upper East Region of Ghana.
